Breaking Barriers Symposium
3rd Augsburg Symposium
25 – 26 February 2025
Breaking Barriers:
The Epithelial Barrier at the Crossroads of Defence and Vulnerability in Chronic Inflammatory Diseases
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Our symposium is dedicated to the natural protective layers of our body that protect us from external harmful influences. These protective layers, or barriers, such as the skin, the mucous membranes, and the intestinal epithelium, play a central role in our health. It is particularly interesting to see how they work together with the many microorganisms that live on and in us to regulate inflammation and maintain the body’s internal balance.
These protective layers are crucial in many allergic diseases, such as atopic dermatitis, food allergies, rhinitis and asthma, as well as in viral infections.
In this symposium, we will shed light on the skin in the area of conflict between protection and vulnerability in chronic inflammatory diseases.
Internationally networked experts from science and medicine will present the current state of research. Be there!
Further information about the program is coming soon.
