Our association supports the Institute for Environmental Medicine and Integrative Health (EMIH) at the Augsburg University Hospital. The EMIH is an institute affiliated with the Augsburg University Hospital and Helmholtz Centre Munich. The participating institutions conduct research within a coherent programme in the fields of Health Care Operations/Health Information Management, Environmental Medicine, and Epidemiology.

The EMIH makes a significant contribution to establishing health sciences research in Augsburg and acts as the nucleus for the emerging university hospital. On the one hand, this directly benefits the local and regional population in the form of improved healthcare. For example, an innovative, fully automatic pollen monitor is operated in Augsburg as part of an interdisciplinary project, enabling real-time measurement of pollen counts for the first time. This allows for significantly improved prevention and therapy measures for allergy sufferers. On the other hand, the importance of Augsburg and the region of Bavarian Swabia as a centre for science and business is strengthened.
